Carolyn started as a software engineer and data scientist at The Hyve in February 2017. Her background is a mix of bioinformatics, software development, applied mathematics, and medical imaging. She completed a Bachelor of Health Sciences with a major in bioinformatics at the University of Calgary in Canada. She then worked as a software developer on a team that customized pipeline control systems. Three years later she took part in the Computer Simulation for Science and Engineering program, through which she obtained two Master of Science degrees with a specialization in bio-simulations. Her first year took place at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands and her second year was at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. Her next step was to pursue a PhD at the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, where she wrote software to extract and analyze brain connectivity data from medical images.
