The MatchMiner platform wins the HBS Precision Trials Challenge
Harvard Business School (HBS) announced on the 20th of May 2016, that Dana-Farber’s MatchMiner has been named the winner of the Precision Trials Challenge.
MatchMiner will receive the $50,000 first prize and an opportunity to share their winning idea at the annual Personalized Medicine Conference (PMC) at Harvard Medical School, where the ideation challenge was first announced last year. Two runners-up were awarded $25,000 each for their innovative ideas.
The Hyve has facilitated the development of the user interface whereas the group of Ethan Cerami PhD was responsible for the development of the core backend, the API and the curating of the data consumed by the MatchMiner platform.
The Hyve achieves ranking for 20 Most Promising Biotech Technology Solution Providers 2016
The Hyve, joins an elite number of companies that have earned a spot on 20 Most Promising Biotech Technology Solution Providers list of 2016 by CIOReview.
In a deliberate session with the honorary industrial experts, a list of 20 Most Promising Biotech Technology Solution Providers 2016 has been concluded with. The positioning is based on evaluation of The Hyve’s specialties in Data management, Open source tool development, Bioinformatics. It supports scientists in life sciences and healthcare R&D with open source software, open data and open standards. It enhances the quality and impact of biology by enabling scientist to publish their bioinformatics data.
Bio-IT World 2015 Poster Award
From April 20 until April 23, the BioIT World Conference 2015 took place in Boston, MA. At this conference we were happy to receive a reward for our poster ‘Multi-omics data analysis in tranSMART using the Cell Line User Case dataset‘. For more details, follow the link.

Datathon Biomarker Award
The Cross Neurodegenerative Diseases Datathon, held on June 30th through July 2nd 2015, turned out to be a great opportunity for international
collaboration on data science. The Datathon focused on developing approaches to collaborate using data science to understand similarities and differences across different neurodegenerative diseases. About 30 scientists from several leading institutions from around the world participated in five teams. The Hyve joined as well, and the team with one of our employees received a Biomarker Award!
tranSMART Annual Meeting 2015
Last year, the tranSMART Annual Meeting took place in the Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam. It included daily plenary sessions, technical and scientificsessions, poster competition, challenge hackathon, 3C Working Group Meetings as well as tranSMART Foundation member activities. Many people of The Hyve joined this meeting and did presentations. Kees van Bochove received an award for leadership of the Architecture Working group!
tranSMART Annual Meeting 2014
From October 14 – October 16 the community came together in Ann Arbor, Michigan, to present their research efforts on drug discovery, the development of diagnostic procedures and the identification of biomarkers as they began to realize the promise of translational medicine. Part of the meeting focused on the development of the tranSMART Platform v1.2. These open source tools are used in a wide array of diseases and medical areas of interest in the study of human health. The Hyve plays a big role in the tranSMART community. At this Annual Meeting, we have won several code awards!
