Attending the i2b2 tranSMART foundation symposium

The leader of our Data Warehousing team, Ward, will attend the i2b2 tranSMART foundation Harvard symposium in Boston June 27 and 28.

The first day, there will be a plenary session with keynote presentations from, among others, Zak Kohane and George Church. Shawn Murphy will present on i2b2 recent developments and the platform’s future. Given the Hyve’s recent achievement of making the Glowing Bear cohort selector run on top of i2b2, that future certainly looks bright. More on this in a later post!

In the evening, during a Board of Directors meeting, the future of the platform will be discussed. Topics include its licensing, how to more closely integrate i2b2 and tranSMART, and extending relationships with the European community and software developers. Ward was recently elected to become a member of the board.

The second day will be dedicated to Working Group sessions. In session dedicated to user interfaces, Ward will give a presentation on Glowing Bear.

In the ETL Working Group session, he will present the new tools for easy data modelling: tmtk (tranSMART toolkit) and The Arborist.
