This year, The Hyve celebrated a significant milestone. We gathered at the magnificent Montfoort Castle on the 15th December to celebrate Christmas with our colleagues and loved ones. This Christmas dinner also marked an extraordinary day for all of us at The Hyve - our 10th Anniversary as a company!
We celebrated our 10th Anniversary with a beautiful banquet put together by our Office Managers, Marit Kaiser and Sifra van Haaften. The evening was filled with many fun conversations, delicious dinner, and bubbly drinks, and later we all hit the dance floor to continue the party.
The Hyve was founded in 2012 by Kees van Bochove, who had long been fascinated by open-source software and its application in life science research. The inspiration for The Hyve, as the company name, came from the company Pentaho which used The Beekeeper analogy to describe the open-source business model.
Over the past decade, under the leadership of our CEO, Harry van Haaften, The Hyve has grown from a small startup into a company with worldwide operations. All those years, our expert team has been dedicated to helping clients align their data infrastructure and research needs by leveraging open-source software and FAIRifying data.
The highlight of the evening was a heartfelt speech delivered by Harry. Here's a short excerpt from it:
"The Hyve is a service company, but what does it encompass?
Serving humanity by helping towards better health? Serving science by helping in collaboration. Serving by software and data solutions and by expert consulting? When you serve, your focus is on the one you serve, not yourself. Serving means better listening, helping others and, in a certain way, creating peace.
I'm so happy that there is a group of Hyvers who make creating a better world happen by enabling open science and focussing on collaboration. Thank you for all that you are doing in your professional life. Enjoy this party, enjoy Christmas, and I hope you all will find sources of inspiration for creating more peace on earth."
