Jan Blom

Jan initially studied English/Linguistics, but a computational linguistics minor launched him into a career as a software developer. After working in several different domains, including language technology, he became gradually involved in bioinformatics and made that his preferred domain. His wife is a molecular biologist, and Jan claims that that has nothing to do with his interest in biology.

Being an eternal student, Jan obtained his Bachelor's in Computer Science from the Dutch Open University and is now studying for a Master's in Artificial Intelligence. Jan will work as a Software Engineer in the Real World Data Team, where he will help improve the tools for OMOP data conversions and data quality assessment. He hopes to contribute to open science, open data and open source.

Jan is interested in sailing and regrets joining The Hyve only after they had a sailing day out. He also likes to ride his bicycle through nature, listen to all kinds of music, and eat regular breakfast expressions.
