Jeren received his Bachelor’s in Biology from Washington State University Vancouver before moving to Amsterdam to pursue his Master’s in Bioinformatics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. During his time in the program, he took an interest in the infrastructure and system design side of the bioinformatics field and decided to pursue extracurricular courses and internship opportunities in data engineering.
This has led him to begin his Master’s thesis at The Hyve, where he will develop a new data model to integrate clinical and genomics data for improved disease understanding in an open-source and open-data standard manner.
Outside of his studies, you can find him rock climbing/bouldering and going on hiking trips in the spring & summer.
