Ricardo Lourenço

Ricardo completed a BSc in Biology at the University of Lisbon before traveling to the Netherlands. Soon after, he graduated with an MSc in Bioinformatics from Wageningen University after working as a teaching assistant in data science. His thesis and graduate internship were focused on combining deep learning with protein engineering, by generating protein structural embeddings using different neural network architectures. In 2024, Ricardo joined the OpenTargets team as a data engineer. His main hobbies include cooking, reading and (learning how to) play the piano.
