Cancer Genomics

Visualizing and analyzing cancer genomics data in a user-friendly way.

The problem

A lot of data is generated in the space of cancer genomics, by hospitals, in clinical trials, in mouse studies, etc. This data does not always reach its full potential because it is hard to find and hard to work with. Many researchers do not have the bioinformatics skills to work with this data. For exploratory analysis and visualization, the effort of working with the data tends to outweigh the benefits of doing so.

How The Hyve can help

cBioPortal is an interactive open source platform for visualizing and analyzing genomics data in a user-friendly way. It gives researchers and clinicians insight in large scale cancer genomics data sets and helps them to develop and select better cancer treatments. By bringing data together in one platform it is much easier to find and easier to work with.

For bench scientists, cBioPortal offers an intuitive and easy-to-use interface that can answer their research questions and is great for exploratory analysis. We often give trainings to end users so they can use the platform to its full potential.

For bioinformaticians, there is a REST API that gives access to all the data that is loaded in the system. This greatly reduces the effort required for harmonizing data from different studies or trials. This allows them to run analyses across large numbers of studies or trials with little effort.

cBioPortal cBioPortal

As a globally recognised leader in cBioPortal installations, The Hyve offers unparalleled expertise in managing and utilising large-scale biomedical data. Since joining the cBioPortal open-source community in 2015, The Hyve has actively contributed to the platform's development, overseeing the most active cBioPortal installations worldwide.

These services are tailored to meet the needs of a diverse clientele, including pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, data providers, and research organisations. Each solution enhances the analysis and visualisation of cancer genomics datasets, supporting research and clinical decision-making.

What people say about The Hyve

“We are excited to be building an open-source community around cBioPortal, and The Hyve has become an integral part of our efforts. The Hyve brings unique expertise in building open-source bioinformatics platforms, and in building bridges between academic centers and industry. We look forward to continued work together.”

Ethan Cerami, Director, Knowledge Systems Group, Department of Biostatistics and Computational Biology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute

“Over the past years, The Hyve has constituted many important new features to cBioPortal, and their quality has always exceeded our expectations. We look forward to collaborating more and are excited to have them as a partner that can help us build bridges to pharmaceutical companies and other academic centers.”

Nikolaus Schultz, Head of Knowledge Systems, Marie-Josée & Henry R. Kravis Center for Molecular Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center

"We use the RADAR-base platform in combination with various wearables as an instrument for continuous monitoring of subjects in early-phase drug trials. It enables us to reliably monitor pharmacodynamics in an at-home setting, which minimizes the burden for participants.”

Ghobad Maleki, Clinical Scientist at Centre for Human Drug Research (CHDR)

"The workshops provided by The Hyve were very helpful to understand and perform all the processes needed to transform our cohort data into the common data model (OMOP) and use the cutting-edge OHDSI tools for analyzing observational studies. We are glad to have been introduced to the OHDSI real-world data platform and networks by the experts of The Hyve."

Alexis Sentís Fuster, Epidemiologist at Centre for Epidemiological Studies of Sexually Transmitted Disease and AIDS in Catalonia (CEEISCAT)

"The Hyve is one of Europe’s leading technology IT services providers who have established an international reputation within the biomedical informatics domain, from open standards such as OHDSI to working with FAIR principles. With their passionate leadership, they have been involved in numerous projects including the European Health Data & Evidence Network (EHDEN). I have no doubt that all of these projects have benefited greatly from their thinking, insights and hands-on expertise."

Nigel Hughes, Industry Lead at IMI EHDEN Project
